Big bang is my favourite but it's one of theses shows where you need to be somewhat similar to them to get the nerdy jokes

Someone once described Malcom In The Middle as a "Tongue-In-Cheek Situational Drama" and it has always felt appropriate

I find big bang to be funny, but I'm also not someone who watches TV a lot and so it fits. Parks and recreation is my favorite show of all time, so maybe I'm just not into great tv.

Schitts Creek is subjectively funny. I don’t find it funny, but all the adults above 30 I know who’ve watched it find it funny. It’s very subjective.

Schitt's Creek has such an amazing balance of humour and love. As it goes on their characters develop more and it gets more heart-warming but still remains hilarious. The good change in their characters throughout the 6 seasons makes it my favourite show in the world

That 70s show, Seinfeld, and How I met your mother are the only shows that have laugh tracks that don’t make you want to throw your ears to Canada and eat nail polish remover in my opinon. The Big Bang Theory, though, is just a different breed

The best example of a story driven sitcom, with excellent character development and is still hillarious is "The Good Place."

Lmao so this is kinda dark but the reason I can’t watch shows with laugh tracks anymore is because I’m an emt and I can’t tell you the amount of DOAs I’ve gone to where the the person is laying there deceased with the tv on and for some reason it’s always a sitcom with the laugh tracks and you just walk in to this dead silent room with the body and you hear the laugh track in the background....it’s always so eerie

This might be only me but you don't really mind the laugh track until you find a comedy show without a laugh track. It's like watching nick comedies with all these laugh tracks when you're younger, then watch a show like Parks and Rec without the laugh track. You just appreciate that the show isn't telling you to laugh at this moment.

Honestly, I really like TBBT. It has its faults, I'm not denying it. But it has a lot of great moments too. All the characters are inherently flawed in some way or the other, it doesn't try to force the audience to love them. I feel it gets a lot of hate just because it's mainstream and cliche, so it's cool to hate on it. But really, cliches are cliches because you do see it reflected in real life Just my honest opinion

Im British and I absolutely cannot stand the IT crowd and people told me to give it a chance so I watched ever episode and hated it even more after.

I look forward to the day when laugh tracks are a thing of the past. When I was growing up every sitcom had one and it was just the norm, I couldn’t imagine a sitcom that wasn’t filmed in front of a live audience that laughed on command. And then the simpsons happened. The simpsons proved to my kid self that I didn’t need a laugh track to tell me when to laugh. I found joy in finding the laughter from the absurd things that happened in Springfield especially watching reruns as a teen when I could understand jokes that went over my head as a kid. That was the moment I began to despise the laugh track. If a joke on a tv show is funny people will laugh, they don’t need an intrusive laugh track to tell them when to laugh, that is the most important thing the simpsons taught me.

Why wasn’t the Simpsons or The Good Place here?

I must be weird but I really do enjoy the laugh tracks in sitcoms. It just tells me when to laugh (when it is inserted at a reasonable place, unlike tbbt) and brings up my mood. When I hear a joke I didn't understand before, after hearing the laugh track, I would think about the joke and maybe laugh at it if I end up getting it. That is, of course, in the scenario when the laugh track doesn't sound forced and sounds like people are genuinely laughing. Apparently when humans hear laughter, we end up being happier (I heard that from a friend but I'm not sure if that's true), and I guess it matches with the purpose of sitcoms.

How I Met Your Mother having the fewest makes sense to me. A lot of the time it feels more of something like maybe a drama or film than a comedy, if that makes sense.

It’s all about timing, the office times their jokes with character reactions and cutaways to private confessionals. Sitcoms just use canned laughs. That being said, The office is a way better show than any sitcom ever.

Brooklyn 99, schitts creek and parks and rec are the most underrated shows.

I watched The BB Theory once, I hated it. So I was really surprised when I watched Young Sheldon and it was so good.

Do they get different people to record laugh tracks or do they just use ones from the 40s, 50s, 60s? If they do not change then are we not just listening to dead people laugh? That is a little creepy

Almost all of the funniest shows had either, 1) Live studio audiences who could laugh in real time, and occasionally the audience would loose their mind laughing and you'd hear giggles in the crowd. 2) No laugh track at all because it's about the actor's delivery.

I am about 17 and I never really liked comedies. But then my family got Hulu, and I started watching B99 and I loved it. I started branching out some more and I found I really liked early 2000 format. Shows like How I met your Mother, That 70s Show, Arrested Development, Raising Hope, Malcolm In the Middle, and Community all had me rolling. I agree with Drew on most things, but I don’t on this. Comedies are just getting worse and I don’t understand how anyone doesn’t think that. Laugh tracks are weird and the Big Bang Theory is the perfect example of laugh tracks done wrong. But old shows like Friends, Hogans Heroes, and Green Acres are undoubtedly funnier than shows like the Goldbergs and Young Sheldon. Just one guys opinion.

one of my favorite things to do is to go on Disney+ and watch an episode of Jessie. whenever they have a laugh track I’ll say, “did you know that Skai Jackson doxed children?” to ruin the experience for everyone.

Brooklyn 99, Big Bang theory, how I met your mother, friends and the community are probably my favorites. I guess it depends on the person on what he/she considers funny, for me those are funny. I dont really like the sarcastic shows, I watched the few seasons of the office but it's just not my cup of tea but I'm excited to watch the IT crowd and parks&rec

I know people will disagree with me on this, but I prefer Parks and Rec over the office. The Office is just too cringe in its humor that it can be really hard to get through. I just find Parks and Rec funnier, I prefer the Characters, they get more development per character , with the main cast being a lot more developed. I like both a lot, but prefer the humor, characters, tone and writing of Parks and Rec.
